IPSHA Charity 2016-2018 Biennium
TOTAL FUNDS RAISED BY IPSHA SCHOOLS AS AT OCTOBER 2017: $18,984.40.
Dear IPSHA Colleagues
In 2016 we asked for feedback from State Branches, via their members, regarding their preferred option for a charity in which to fundraise during the 2016-2018 biennium.
The majority of members proposed to support the organisation Kids With Cancer Foundation (Australia). This organisation does wonderful work in providing funds for childhood cancer sufferers, their families and other institutions that assist children with cancer. They are able to pass on 100% of funds raised to where they are most needed.
We therefore will be supporting this charity and greatly encourage IPSHA schools around Australia to organise a fundraiser in support of Kids With Cancer Foundation (Australia).
As you would be aware, last year the Walkathon event worked extremely well and we were able to raise a considerable amount of money for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Walkathons are therefore encouraged as a fundraising event, but any activity that fits in with your school timetable would be welcomed. This could range from Casual Days to Socials or from Spelling Bees to Cake Stalls.
To gain support for this charity from your school community, it may be beneficial to have any families affected by childhood cancer speak at an assembly, or to write an article for your school newsletter. The Foundation is also able to support your planned event by supplying balloons, bunting, banners, donation tins and brochures. Please contact Laura (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you would like assistance in organising the supply of these items.
As in the past, any monies raised should be forwarded to IPSHA Federal either by cheque or bank transfer. Please send through any photos taken at your charity event, and we will place them on the IPSHA website, together with a running total of monies raised.
The link at the bottom of this page will take you to the website for Kids With Cancer Foundation, where further information about this organisation can be found.
I take this opportunity to wish you well in your fundraising endeavours, and look forward to raising money for this worthwhile charity, helping childhood cancer sufferers and their families.
With warm regards
Garry Brown OAM – IPSHA Federal President
