Partnership With The Fred Hollows Foundation

IPSHA Celebrates Partnership With The Fred Hollows Foundation In 2010

The Independent Primary School Heads of Australia has agreed to support The Fred Hollows Foundation in 2010 as part of our commitment to our national goal of ‘... improving the education and health outcomes for Indigenous children by raising such an awareness in our schools’.

The Fred Hollows Foundation works to improve the health and wellbeing of Indigenous people in some of the most remote communities in Australia. The Foundation’s Indigenous Program operates as a series of interrelated projects that have health inequity as their underlying cause. These projects include nutrition, literacy and wellbeing.

In 2008 our Association raised nearly $119,000 for Ian Thorpe’s ‘Fountain for Youth’ and presented a cheque to Ian at our national conference in Adelaide. One of the key ambassadors for The Fred Hollows Foundation is Susie O’Neill and Susie has committed to supporting our efforts to raise over $150,000 during next year’s fundraising in IPSHA schools for this worthy foundation.

So start planning with your students now and make this a key focus of your fundraising in 2010. Suggestions for possible fundraising include free dress day, read-a-thon, money trail, crazy hair/sock day, etc.
