Welcome to IPSHA South Australia
Welcome to the South Australian Branch of IPSHA (Independent Primary School Heads of Australia). You may notice that our website has undergone some changes and is currently being updated. It is the intent of the SA Branch Executive to regularly update the website to ensure members are well informed of the events, meetings and conferences that take place during the course of each year. I encourage you to keep checking the website and invite feedback as to other aspects that may be useful for our members.
The South Australian Branch comprises a range of schools in diverse settings in both metropolitan and rural areas. We have a clear intent to promote and strengthen independent primary education in Australia, and thus there is a commitment to support and strengthen each of our schools in SA. Membership with IPSHA subsequently provides the opportunity to share the successes and challenges that each of us experience as Heads of a school, and to draw upon the collective wisdom of its members.
Keeping abreast of the changing educational landscape is indeed challenging. A commitment to strong links with relevant associations and official bodies is essential to better understand imperatives that require implementation in our schools and to engage in professional activities that enable continual improvement for us as leaders, for our staff and ultimately, for our students.
The SA Branch Executive is charged with ensuring the operations of the Branch are maintained throughout each year. One Branch meeting a term is scheduled, and these are usually held at a school. Members are encouraged to participate in these meetings which are designed to meet the needs of the group along with other pertinent aspects.
The ongoing success of the SA Branch is also due to the work of numerous Hub Groups, all of which are supported by a designated Head. Hub Groups are formed dependent on need and provide a range of activities for the staff of our member schools. They provide professional learning for relevant staff, inspiring and supporting them to trial new ideas and strategies to ensure diverse learning experiences for our students.
On a personal level, IPSHA has provided a breadth and depth of collegiality that has supported and energised me to continue to strive to do my best. Like any membership, it takes commitment, and as such, I encourage you to commit yourself to active participation in our branch meetings and the activities and initiatives offered both in SA and nationally. It is worth it!
Please feel welcome to contact any members of the Executive should you wish to further explore the benefits of being a member of the SA Branch.
