Victoria

Welcome to IPSHA Victoria

The Victorian Branch of IPSHA (The Independent Primary School Heads of Australia) formerly known as JSHAA, consists of approximately ninety members from Independent schools across Victoria, including single sex, co-educational, denominational, non-denominational, metropolitan and rural schools. Our members may be Heads of Junior Schools, or Middle Schools which have a significant proportion of primary age students.

Many of our members’ schools are part of an F-12 structure, while some are stand-alone Primary Schools. Being independent of other systems means we can feel isolated in our busy and often demanding role as Head of a School, and membership with IPSHA allows us to share the joys and challenges of our responsibilities. Membership brings many benefits to Primary Heads, our schools and staff. The strength of our association is the willingness and commitment of members to foster collegial support, professional learning and networks for staff and students. We are privileged to have representation on State and National peak associations such as the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and the Australian Primary Principals Association (APPA).

Our term meetings are held at a variety of schools and include relevant professional development through keynote speakers, discussion groups and workshops. The Association also provides regular updates of curriculum and political relevance and reports are given from IPSHA committee representatives. By attending our four Branch meetings annually and other IPSHA events, members can take advantage of opportunities to network, develop leadership and celebrate members’ contributions to the wider educational community.

The culture of the Victorian Branch of IPSHA is one of professionalism, learning, sharing, mutual support and friendship. By taking the time to visit the IPSHA website, you will learn more about the activities of our association and be able to access links to other important educational organisations. Members of the IPSHA Victorian Executive and Branch are always willing to help and can be easily contacted by phone or email.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to further explore the benefits of being a member of the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia, Victorian Branch. I commend our association to you and look forward to sharing this biennium with you.

Pat Kenny
IPSHA (Victoria) President 2016-2018
