Victoria

Welcome to IPSHA Victoria

The Victorian Branch of IPSHA (The Independent Primary School Heads of Australia) consists of approximately ninety members from Independent schools across Victoria, including single sex, co-educational, denominational, non-denominational, metropolitan and rural schools. Our members may be Heads of Junior Schools, or Middle Schools which have a significant proportion of primary age students. Many of our members’ schools are either part of a K-12 structure or from a stand-alone Primary School.

We are a collegial branch, who take pride in our work and the opportunity to provide support, collegiality and also great shared learning opportunities. IPSHA creates an opportunity for independent school heads to connect and to share the joys and challenges of the role, something which is important given that we are independent and not part of a bigger system. Membership brings many benefits to Primary Heads, our schools and staff. The strength of our association is the willingness and commitment of members to contribute their talents and time for the benefit of our community.

We are privileged to have representation on State and National peak associations such as the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) and the Australian Primary Principals Association (APPA).Our termly meetings are held at schools across Victoria and include relevant professional learning through keynote speakers, discussion groups and workshops. The Association also provides regular curriculum updates and political relevance and reports are given from IPSHA committee representatives. By attending our four Branch meetings annually and other IPSHA events, members can take advantage of opportunities to network, develop leadership and celebrate members’ contributions to the wider educational community. The Biennial conference is another opportunity for members to connect and engage with outstanding speakers to be abreast of current thinking and developments in the field.

The culture of the Victorian Branch of IPSHA is one of professionalism, learning, sharing, mutual support and friendship. By taking the time to visit the IPSHA website, you will learn more about the activities of our association and be able to access links to other important educational organisations. Members of the IPSHA Victorian Executive and Branch are always willing to help and can be easily contacted by phone or email.

Please do not hesitate to contact us should you wish to further explore the benefits of being a member of the Independent Primary School Heads of Australia, Victorian Branch. I commend our association to you and look forward to sharing this biennium with you.
